Word 97 Toolbar Error
It has been reported that troublesome Word 97 installations may suddenly report the following message:
“The application or DLL C:tools\sr\srext.dll is not a valid Windows NT
image. Please check this against your installation diskette.”
The ‘srext.dll’ file is the Search and Replace Explorer extension. Why the Office 97 Toolbar wants to deal with this file is unknown.
Reinstalling the Search and Replace explorer shell extension seems to take care of the problem. The extension is available at any time from our web site. Visit the shareware download page at www.funduc.com/srshareware.htm and scroll down until you see the ‘SRCLIENT.EXE‘ download link. Download that file. Reboot your computer. Run srclient.exe and then reboot again, even if you are not prompted to do so.
