Regular Expressions – Enable Regular Expression Mode
‘Regular Expression’ mode must be turned on to use Regular Expression operators in a search (&replace). To enable Regular Expression mode do one of the following:
1) Click on the Regular Expression toolbar button.
2) Select ‘Regular Expression’ from the Flags Menu.
If you are using a script, there is a checkbox in the script editor to enable Regular Expressions for a given search/replace string pair.
Note: If ‘Regular Expression’ is dim or it seems like regular expression mode is ‘deactivated’ or disabled in some way for your installation, check the Flags menu and make sure ‘Ignore Whitespace’ and/or ‘HTML Mode’ are turned off. You may also need to disable Whole Word mode. Regular Expression mode cannot be combined with ‘Ignore Whitespace’ and/or ‘HTML Mode’.
